You are looking at a brand new genuine BMW M Competition rear tailgate emblem/badge.  This particular one comes from the X6 M badge but is the same as the F90 M5, F97 X3 M, F98 X4 M, F91/F92/F93 M8, and F95 X5 M one.  You really can put it anywhere you'd like to have such a badge.  It comes brand new, factory sealed with adhesive already applied to the base.
